Matthias' point was that GPL Xara code cannot be integrated into the
GTK+ mainline, because that would force GTK+ to be released under the
GPL. Ditto for Cairo. That doesn't stop someone from forking
GTK+/Cairo and releasing a Xara-enabled package under the GPL, but that
means maintaining what will likely be a very different version (of
Cairo, at least).
This discussion might be pointless on gtk-devel, but we are
on gtk-app-devel.
Personally, I find this discussion OT for gtk-app-devel, period, but
nobody asked me ^_~.
