GTK APIs for Themes

Hello All,
I wanted to know what precise APIs does GTK provide for extracting
information about the "current theme". Eg.  How to find out, for the
current theme -
- the background color of tooltip 
- the highlight-color for selected text
etc etc.

Is there a specific set of  GTK API's provided to do this? 

I also had a look at 
http://developer.gnome.org/arch/gtk/themes.html

but this doesnot give me precise APIs which I need.
