Expose Event

Hi

Im having problem regarding writing code in the expose event of my event 
box. Whenever this event occurs, i am writing code to draw a rectangle in 
the handler but nothing seems to happen whereas if i run the same code in 
any other function or event handler it works. Is there something i need to 
know about the expose event. If u could help out please reply to
