Space as an accel key??

Hi all,

Is there some reason why I cant use the space key as an accelerator ??
I set it using GDK_space like this:

gtk_accel_map_add_entry("<menu>/Select/None", GDK_space, 0);

But it doesn't seem to work, no label appears in the menu,
and pressing space does nothing...

Any ideas?
