checkbox nightmares

hi

i am using gtk+ 2.

I wish to use a checkbox to update other checkboxes on the screen

ie
if A gets ticked
  tick b
  tick c 
  tick d
......

but conversly if any one of b,c,d are un-ticked, untick a.


any ideas? i have had a trawl through the list and cant quite see
anything similar.
