Hello wonderful people,

I reinstalled RedHat Linux 9 3 times in a week !!! Please help.
Dude, first of all, if re-installing is considered an acceptable way to
go, try installing the test release of Fedora 2 (or wait for the stable
release, it won't be far away). It has all this stuff installed and
ready to go => 0 work for you.
If you insist on doing this on RedHat 9 though, I'd really suggest not
installing this stuff system wide if you can avoid it. Gtk, Pango and
Glib will all install happily in a home directory. If it's possible for
what you need to do, I'd use --prefix=/home/your_user_name, set your
PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH accordingly and try that. At the very least, if
you screw it up you only need to obliterate your home directory. Not the
whole system.
HTH,
James.
