how to set wrapped text in GtkCList?

Now I have developed a project with Gtk+1.2.10.I wanna make the text
wrapped in the cell of GtkCList.I try to insert a "\n" to the text.But
it failed.Can anybody tell me how to do that?
Sample:

text:   it is a sample
wrapped it is a sa
        mple

Otherwise, if I wanna make the text wrapped in the Japanese word, how
can I make sure the position of the word?
