optimising gtktreeview

Dear All,

Is there any way to improve the speed and performance of gtktreeview for big big
sizes. Is there any functions that can be called that will make it little
faster. At the moment I got 15 columns and over 20000 rows showing   9 decimal
numbers. And no, I don't have the latest P4-3ghz. I know that in the new
gtk2.3.2 there's a speed improvement by fixing the height. Can  I implement this
enhancemnt in the current stable 2.2.4.
