I have gtk+-1.2 installed already in the system, which wont support some of the functions like gkt_pixbuf.. etc. Now how can i insall gtk 2.2. If i reamove all old libs & includes from the system will it cause problem in the system applications.can anybody suguest about this.
You do not have to remove the 1.2 stuff. Just install GTK+2.2 in a different location. When you install the GTK+2.2 packages (atk, glib, pango, gtk+) configure them with --prefix=/opt/gtk2 (for example). Then add /opt/gtk2/lib/pkgconfig to the environment variable PKG_CONFIG_PATH and you should be OK. Roland -- R.F.
