How to use g_signal_emit_by_name?

Hi,

void g_signal_emit_by_name (gpointer instance, const gchar *detailed_signal. 
...)
How to give the parameter of detailed_signal, which is supposed to be in the 
form of "signal-name::detail"?
For example, the "add" signal from GtkContainer... :(
