You can type almost language into an entry box.

GTK+ uses UTF-8 just about everywhere. gtk_entry_get_text
returns UTF-8.

P.S. There was something screwy about your mail. It had this header:
X-Warning: MIME format broken: MS-TNEF part might contain a virus
The ms-tnef thing is probably unnecessary, whatever it is.
