Nabil,
I was actually looking to do a transpaernt window, which I have
found that you can not do unless you write custom Xlib code, or
something like that. However, there is a patch out there for
transparent buttons, and menus. If you can't make your drawable
transparent with some GDK calls, then perhaps you could find the patch,
and adapt it to your needs. If you like, I will go back through my
message history and look for the link.

Hi all,
I'm still trying to figure out how to make a drawable transparent. I
would like to overlay my gui with a transparent widget (eg a
GtkDrawingArea) to draw some lines on it, only the lines should be
visible. The rest of the DrawingArea/Pixmap should be transparent so
that the underlying widgets can be seen.
