gtk_style_set_prop_experimental() equivalent in GTK+-2.0 ?

Hi all,

In the process of porting my theme engine to GTK+-2.0, I could not find
an equivalent in GTK+-2.0 for latest GTK+-1.2.10's
gtk_style_set_prop_experimental()

Basically, wht I want to do is set a few props from within the code
rather than in the gtkrc file. This is what
gtk_style_set_prop_experimental() was for, right ? 

Another (small) question, in my gtkrc file, I have

GtkSpinButton::shadow-type = etched-in

This doesn't seem to have any effect at all. Any idea ?
