My brain is going to melt... File selection

Hi everybody !
Remember I'm a newbie...

Ok, how can I make a function who return a path to a file ? In fact, I 
need exactly this :


char * path;
path=funtion_with_a_gtk_file_selector_who_return_just_a_pointer_to_char();

So, how could I do that ? I've tested lot of technique, but no one 
works...
