Have you added the directory where the GTK+ libraries are installed to /etc/ld.so.conf, and run ldconfig as root? E.g, if you installed in /opt/gtk2 you should add /opt/gtk2/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf.Huh?.. sorry.. I dont understand that.. I installed the libs from rpms.. and where did I add the dir?.. I need to create a symbolic link from /opt/gtk2/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf?..
Check the contents of the RPM file and note where it has put the libraries. Look for files than end in '.so.0.0.n', where n is a number. Then take a look at the contents of the file /etc/ld.so.conf, to see if that directory is listed there. If not, login as root, open /etc/ld.so.conf with a text editor and add that directory (on a line of its own). Run ldconfig as root, so that the system knows where to find the libraries.
