Whence _XPrivDisplay

Hi All,

Attempting to build Gaim (http://gaim.sourceforge.net/) against
gtk+-1.2.10, the make barfs with

    `_XPrivDisplay' undeclared (first use in this function)

This does not happen when Gaim is built against gtk+-1.2.6.

So when did _XPrivDisplay disappear?  And why?  Should application
code not have been referring to it?  If it was supposed to be
"public," why was it taken away?  What needs to be done to work-
around its absence?
