embeg a dialog?

I want to use the file listing and selection capabilities of the gtk
file selection dialog, but not the dialog itself.  I'd either like to be
able to embeg the dialog (minus the action box buttons) in a window so I
can add other widgets (menu & tool bar), or be able to extend the dialog
somehow by adding a menu & tool bar (and removing the action box
buttons).  Is this possible?  With glade?
