gtk/win32 - font size too big

I've got gtk 2.0 (and gtkmm) running with mingw32, and notice the default 
font size is HUGE.

Owen mentioned setting the gtk-font-name in the .gtkrc-2.0 file, but this 
doesn't seem to work under Win32/Mingw32. Is there a blessed way to do this 
there?

Also, is there documentation that explains the differences in behavior 
between the win32 and unix, with respect to font naming, resource 
file/pixmap paths, etc?
