Hi!

i have an application that uses pango to display devanagari. It works on
two of my machines. However, another machine isn't working. Maybe i forgot
all the steps to make it work?

1. i set the locale to en_US.utf8 using dpkg-reconfigure locales (/etc/locale.gen).

2. Add the pango fonts to the font path.

joshua remix:~$ ls /usr/local/lib/X11/fonts/
dev-14.bdf dev-18.bdf dev-24.bdf fonts.dir raghu.ttf
dev-14.pcf dev-18.pcf dev-24.pcf fonts.scale

joshua remix:~$ xset q
Font Path:

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/,/usr/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo/,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/,/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/,/usr/local/lib/X11/fonts/

joshua remix:~$ xlsfonts |grep dev
-sibal-devanagari-medium-r-normal--0-0-75-75-p-0-iso10646-dev
-sibal-devanagari-medium-r-normal--14-140-75-75-p--iso10646-dev
-sibal-devanagari-medium-r-normal--18-180-75-75-p--iso10646-dev
-sibal-devanagari-medium-r-normal--24-240-75-75-p--iso10646-dev

3. Run my app with the language set to mr.

  LC_ALL=en_US.utf8 LANGUAGE=mr redael

On two of my machines, this gives nice marathi glyphs. However, the other machine
just displays lots of squares, as if the glyphs are not available. What else
can i check?

Here are the versions of the debian packages:

libgtk2.0-0 2.0.2-2
libpango1.0-0 1.0.1-2
libglib2.0-0 2.0.1-1
libfreetype6 2.0.9-1
xserver-xfree86 4.1.0-14
