Very simple: 

1) cover the text you want to paste
with the mouse, holding down the left button

2) go to the entry where you want to copy
the text, and press the left button, just 
to fix the cursor

3) press the middle button to paste the text

This is the Unix way to paste text, it works
almost everywhere in the Unix world (you can
copy text from say Netscape to vi with this
method, for example) and is very convenient,
because you don't need to use the GUI or the
keyboard at all to copy and paste, only the mouse.
