Changing the color of widgets...

I'm using GTK 1.2.10 and writing a program in C, I am wondering if someone
could please tell me if it is possible to change the color of widgets, for
example the text on a GtkLabel.

If it is possible, could someone please tell me how one would
accomplish this?

I'm looking more for program controlled color change, not user
controlled.
