GnomeMDI functionality

Hi,

As stated in an earlier mail, I am trying to learn GTK.  I have used Gnome 
libs for some stuff simply for ease of use initially, but would like to step 
back from them and develop GTK-only apps so that there are less 
dependencies.

Is there functionality similar to GnomeMDI, or do I have to code it myself.  
If so, would something like a linked list suffice for keeping track of 
windows that are open?
