Take a look at the gtkextra plot widget available from
http://gtkextra.sourceforge.net/. It has a lot of capabilities and
supports real-time plotting. Unfortunately it is undocumented. However,
there are many good examples including one for real-time plotting. I
can't imagine that there is any better plot widget.
