Uhh, I know why it didn't get installed: I had some problems when compiling Pango in the examples dir. (I think because of my Qt installation..), and I cut it out from the Makefile.am :)

Just copy examples/pangox.aliases in your Pango tarball. I don't know
why it wasn't installed on your system.
