menus ....

G'Day !

I am building an application that has a menu structure that is several layers
deep in sub menus.  I have two questions

1)  How do I keep track of where I am in the menu structure ?  I know how to get
the current menu, but not its parent.

2)  If you have a reoccuring sub menu, do I have to rebuild it for each
instance, or is there an easy way to write a function to call over again ?

Excuse my stupidity ... if I think about it, the answer will probably be obvious
....
