vscale's orientation.

Hey all, I'm new to gtk+ hacking and to this list,

I am attempting to change around a gui, and i've turned a hscale into a
vscale, but the vscales maximum value is when it is in the bottom
position, which is odd for the user.  can i change it so the the maximum
value is up, or do i just have to use the reciprical of the adjustments
value?
