Re: looking for game sound api



Can people recommend a sound api for linux game development?  

Ideally it would be GPL, and install as obseqiously as possible.  As far
as capabilities, I'd like to play back canned sound effects, varying the L
and R speaker volume based on the (1 dimensional) location of the sound,
and maybe have some background music.

You might want to look into YIFF, http://wolfpack.twu.net/YIFF.
It's the first sound server developed for Linux games.

You'll need to call YGetNextEvent() in a gtk time out function
as often as you can to handle events after you initialize the recorder.
