from my experience it is not a good idea to let an app like gthumb
handle OS things. i would rather look into the automount mechanism in
xfce and use that. if you have your old gnome install handy it might be
just a matter of using their mechanism in xfce. after all the DE is
nothing more than convenience built on top of the real OS.
