Re: [gthumb-list] Extremely slow loading of thumbnails

I'm using gThumb 2.90.1 built today from the git repository on Fedora 16.

I started gThumb at a directory of 600 JPG images about 6Mb each (total
size 3.3Gb). After 2-1/4 hour of constant disk activity and over 70%
CPU, it was still going strong and had consumed about 1.5Gb of ram and
was growing. Only about 1/2 of the thumbnails were displayed. I gave up
and shut it down.

My machine has a 3GHz Phenom II X4, 8Gb RAM, 74GB Raptor system drive,
640Gb data drive and a 2Gb SSD. The thumbnails for all 600 images are
cached in the SSD.

gqview the predecessor of gThumb displayed all the thumbnails in less
than 10 seconds.

I put together a 320 line test program using GTK+ functions to read and
display thumbnails. It took about 5 seconds to display all 600 thumbnails.

It seems to me that there is something seriously amiss.

I cannot reproduce the problem, can you post the last part of the 'configure' output after the 'Configuration:' line?
