Hi Paolo,

Your solution does not apply to my system.
I am running RHEL 6.3 x64 gThumb 2.10.11.
On normal (left) double-click nothing happens.
On right double click a new window opens but:
Edit =
  Undo
  Redo
  Comments
  Categories
  Remove comment
  Add to catalog

double-click on the image to open the viewer mode and use the 
'Edit->Copy Image' command
