[gthumb-list] Set another locale (french)

Hi,

Before 2.12 when I ran gthumb (in CLI, with --enable-run-in-place)
I always got the interface in french, which is my distribution language

Now I get english. How can I force it back to french ?

I tried
$ LANG=fr_FR.utf8 ./gthumb/gthumb
and other combinations (fr.utf8, fr_FR.UTF8, fr_FR.UTF-8)
but I'm still with the english interface.

I do have po/fr.gmo  & po/fr.po
