Paolo,

What's the rationale for enabling/disabling extensions at run-time? Why 
would you want to disable something that compiled OK?

Wouldn't it make more sense (and simplify the UI) to have compile-time 
switches like --disable-plugin-name, and automatically enable everything 
that compiled?
