The point is not about adding new functions to help in
serialize/unserialize methods, but improving some features not related
with this issue, but that in the end it will help to improve the
serialize/unserialize implementation.


Mainly these features to be improved (and that I'm working on) are
related with the metadata keys management.


So I think it's better to not delay this serialize/unserialize function
and merge it.

Later, if news improvements land in trunk, they probably will require
some refactors, among them the one with serialize/unserialize.
