Right, I was confused initially because items are usually created
with
a pixbuf which guarantees it's going to be an image surface. But
that
is not the only possibility.
Yes, someone could set the "pattern" property using a gradient or
something.
and maybe double-check we don't go off the end of the buffer.
Is this possible at all? I'm afraid I don't understand.
I'm just very careful after several bad buffer-overrun experiences in
the past!
I'll finish off the patch and test it at some point.
I'm not really planning on doing a new release for a while though.
