hi @all, i'm still relatively new here, pls. excuse if i am not well adapted to the manners,
i started trying small code changes in gnumeric (against rounding errors) it works quite well (compiles, and produces different results almost as intended), but i have one wish / one idea / would like one feature:
for testing during my trial-and-error programming - sorry, that's the limit of my capa :-( - i'd like to be able to switch between 'normal' and patched versions without having to re-install the different versions, ideally to be able to run two independent different installations in parallel. have one window open with 'old' and one with 'new' and switch between them as i need or like.
LibreOffice offers such a feature, at least 'dev' versions can be started from the directory they were compiled in and run independent of other stuff, path, files, presets ...
that's quite strong e.g. for fast checking if undesired results are new, or have already been in before.
with gnumeric i didn't try that as gnumeric is dependent on goffice, and in fact i had to do / try some changes there as well (the 'gnm_fake_***' functions are mapped to 'go_fake_****'). thus in the end i need a unpatched version of gnumeric using functionalities of an unpatched version of goffice, and parallel to that a patched gnumeric using a patched goffice ...
anybody an idea for such, any script, howto, help, better idea?
best regards and thanks in advance ...
b.
