Check if the ld path includes the directory where you istalled (most
probably /usr/local/lib). This should be in /etc/ld.so.conf or one of
the files it includes.

Hi Jean,
Thank you for the reply. I already installed the latest goffice package.
Reinstalling gnumeric using th sudo make install command did not change
anything.
I also reinstalled both goffice and gnumeric using the sudo make install
command but now I get this error:
gnumeric: error while loading shared libraries: libgoffice-0.8.so.7:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
There seems to be a problem with goffice now. ;)
That's really weird...
Best,
Artur

You should use make install, not make checkinstall, or modify the
library loader search path. Otherwise the library will not be found. It
is also highly recommended to use goffice-0.7.18.

Jean

Hello,
First, thanks for uploading the new gnumeric version.
I just tried to install the new version. I got no problems while the
compilation on my ubuntu 9.10 system. I installed the program using the
checkinstall command.
Unfortunately, I receive the following message when I want to start
gnumeric via command line:
gnumeric: error while loading shared libraries:
libspreadsheet-1.9.18.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file
or directory
Do you know what the problem is? I did not find any hint in the internet.
Best,
Artur
