The attached patch allows users to click on the icon next to Gnumeric expression entries, which will shrink the enclosing window and hide the other widgets. It is a quick hack but it seems to work quite well. I'm not sure whether all the dialogs are coded so that they don't rely on their widgets being displayed when processing data, and whether this should be packed into an additional flag.
