Scripting functions in Gnumeric

Hello,

In the past, I've done some projects in MS Excel/VBA and I'd like to port
them to Gnumeric (not in VBA). It would probably help in dropping
completely the use of MS Office in our school (OOo is not yet a choice
because of VBA).
I read elsewhere that Python was already supported for scripting, but I
can't seem to find any docs about it.

I appreciate any help.
