(This is in response to a question/answer from a few days ago.)
I've used both. I think that they're both fine for casual use.
OpenOffice does download with this nifty installation program;
but after it's installed, there is a REALLY long pause every time I
execute it.
It all comes down to what you happen to need. Maybe you really need to
do some present/future value calculations for mortgages using 30/360
rules. Use gnumeric. I really couldn't care less about presentation
type stuff (colors, borders, etc.) so I can't talk about that stuff.
The one area were I will always use OpenOffice is the Impress
presentation program. Whenever I need a kind of a slide show,
where your average person would use PowerPoint, I have found
(IMHO) Impress much easier to use than any of the other OpenSource
programs that I've had occasion to try.
