Weird indeed.  I would expect libole2-config --cflags to give

-I/usr/local/include

and libole2-config --libs to give

-L/usr/local/lib -lgnomeole2

if the installation is under /usr/local.  The responses you cite are
totally useless for finding headers (cflags) and for the linker
(libs).  It seems you have somehow got a corrupted libole2-config in
place, I'm afraid I can't imagine how 8-|  Anyone else?
