Text paste import with UTF8

Yesterday I found out that when I paste data into Gnumeric from an xterm
it automatically launches a wizard to do the import properly, which is
brilliant.

However, if my Gnumeric locale uses UTF8 then the second and subsequent
pages of the wizard make every other character the "Not available"
dotted rectangle, as if perhaps 16-bit chars were being put into a
function that expected UTF8 or Latin-1

Is this another Gnome Print problem (I am awaiting a decent RPM) or is
this a Gnumeric bug? I am surprised that only the 2nd and subsequent
pages are affected (rather than all of them) which is why I wonder if
it is Gnumeric at fault rather than Gnome Print.

The data imports correctly in any case, so this is merely cosmetic.

Nick.
