Hi David,
Gnumeric is performing strange case conversions on strings I type into
cells (whether the format is "general" or "text").
When I try to type "kCLge" into a blank cell, I end up with "KcLGE".
When I then edit the cell to try to put the case correct, I get
"kClge". No matter how many times I edit, I cannot get to "kCLge";
similar problems happen for other mixed-case strings.
This is because you have auto-correct settings on.
Go to Tools-> Auto Correct and put all the autocorrect settings off.
Then it works as you would expect.
I don't want to report this to bugzilla until I'm sure I'm not missing
anything obvious.
Well, with all the settings on I still find it strange that gnumeric
gives KcLGE. I mean, I get the same result, so I can reproduce the same
behaviour, but I don't understand why.
moreover, when you put the format of the cells as text, the explanation
in the dialog says: Display the value excactly as it was entered.
This is obviously not the case if you have auto correct settings on.
I think it is somewhat confusing behaviour, especially for new users.
