Gnumeric 0.65

Hello there...

I currently am running on 0.61 and am contemplating upgrading to
0.65...I really need to be able to save over existing Excel 95 files and
it sounds like 0.65 will do it.  However when I run the configure script
for 0.65 I receive the following error 

Configure Error:You need at least libxml (aka gnome-xml) 1.8.12 for this
version of gnumeric.

Can somebody help me?  thanks
