Printing problem

Hello!

When I try to preview a spreadsheet before printing it, the text appears
as small squares, and when I print it no text prints.  It will print
lines or shaded cells...again, just no text.

I pretty sure this is a problem with gnome-print.  I've already tried
uninstalling gnome-print and gnome-print-devel (actually I'm using the
Ximian packages for XG1.4) then reinstalling them...but the same
behavior occurs.  In addition to uninstalling/reinstalling the
individual packages several times, I've also completely reinstalled
XG1.4 several times.
 
The same behavior also occurs in Evolution (v0.11), but oddly enough it
does NOT occur in AbiWord, which I thought also used gnome-print.  But
maybe not.
 
Any ideas how to fix this problem?

BTW--I originally sent this msg. with a screenshot just in case.  That
msg. got hung up waiting to be approved by the list moderator (I didn't
think of that).  But if it would help I can forward a screenshot
