Um, are we worried by the number of different sort orders or the size of the
dataset that can be sorted?
You can sort all of an excel datasheet if you have the memory for it. But
you can only specify the sort order on 3 columns.

In 0.57 it appears you can sort by as many columns as you have
selected. Just use the Add button.
I seem to recall Excel limits you to 3, but I may be doing it an
injustice.
I'll try Gnumeric again to be sure, but when I tried it yesterday it
seemed like it wouldn't handle more than 3.
I don't know what I did wrong the other day, but when I tried it again
it worked up to at least 6 columns, which was the size of my data.
