You need GNOME standard icons, these are used for applications like epiphany, nautilus and other too.

I'll have a look, I was cleaning some old code there and I remember I didn't like how this upside down was implemented. I'll try to correct it.
As for search, I think of implementing "search as you type" in notes list.
