Re: [GnomeMeeting-list] gizmo and ekiga

Benjamin - I have more suggestions below, if Damien's ideas did not
work for you:

Try calling me on
sip:8362 ekiga net

If you can't reach me but instead get an error like '403 Forbidden'
instead of at least '408 Request Timeout' or '480 Offline' then it is
possible that you may not yet be able to call ekiga.net directly from
your network (some SIP providers seem to have a kind of outbound
security that stops calls to some other networks.)

1. Get your own ekiga.net number and get your gizmoproject softphone
to register itself with ekiga.net . This may not be possible with
the current version of gizmoproject - your soft phone may be locked to
sipphone. Or...

2. Try calling your ekiga friends with a sipbroker prefix

011747*673<their ekiga number or name>

for example call me on 011747*6738362

How this works:
011747 - is the gizmo/sipphone prefix for sipbroker.com
               (see http://sipphone.com/numbers/ )
*673 is the sipbroker code for ekiga.net
8362 is my ekiga.net username

It is equivalent to
sip:011747*6738362 proxy01 sipphone com

I have not tried it from gizmoproject - but I have tried calling via
sipbroker from other networks (FWD and Gradwell) and demonstrated that
ekiga accepts incoming calls via sipbroker. Don't bother to try the
internal ekiga numbers like the echo test if you are using method 2,
but calling ordinary users should be ok.

3. You can try a subtle variation of 2 with the sipbroker proxy
instead of the gizmo proxy:
sip:*673<their ekiga name>@sipbroker.com

To call me
sip:*6738362 sipbroker com

Please tell us if you have any success with 1 2 or 3.

If you are stuck with all 3, tell us or the gizmoproject community
exactly what you try and the exact error message from your phone.
"this doesn't seem to work" means too much guesswork. With the exact
error message someone might know the answer.

Best regards, David
