I looked into the way GM it is compiled on Gentoo and it there is 
nothing special.

However, drilling down I found the following comment:

openh323-1.15.2-r1.ebuild:    # compile with PTRACING if the user 
wants to debug stuff

So, as far as I can get it, to produce the debug output from GM,
OpenH323 has to be compiled with PTRACING (`USE="debug" 
FEATURES="noclean nostrip" emerge -a openh323 gnomemeeting` on 
Gentoo)... not very intuitive though...

May be a note in the man page or the FAQ or somewhere will be helpfull.

I recompiled openh323 and gnomemeeting, however I still don't get 
any output running with "-d 4"...

I saw things like "-DPTRACING -DNDEBUG -g" in the output of make but
