Hi, I know how, just don't feel like it. BTW, I've
been a yahoo.com member since 1997, publicly online
since 1994, and a software developer since 1990. ;-)

Moreover GM 0.98.5 (which

The "full duplex" requirement is probably it. The i810
audio device( or drivers ) doesn't seem to support
full duplex. Also, starting Knoppix with the "alsa"
cheat-code doesn't result in the alsa module getting
loaded and nothing ALSA works( alsa_init, alsamixer,
or alsa_snddevices ). Kernel msg output shows an
AD1881 device and neither alsa=snd_intel8x0 or
alsa=ad1889 did anything that remotely looks like alsa
is getting loaded. How is one to know anyways? Does
the alsa module show up in lsmod listing? (UPDATE) I
just found out that Knoppix 3.3 doesn't have the
snd_intel8x0 driver but my v3.0 install does... This
might be key to getting ALSA loaded. :-)

Heck, even attempts to just use the text interface of
gnomemeeting fails because starting gnomemeeting with
"--disable-sound" still results in it wanting to
connect to the sound device and hence, not running.

BTW, thanks for responding. Nobody on the Knoppix
forum responded to two postings there. The last time I
bothered with internet conferencing was in the mid
1990's with IBM's Person-to-person over dialup. With
todays broadband access, the experience has got to be
incredible. That is if I can get something working....
TIA.

bc :-)
