Re: [GnomeMeeting-list] Asymmetrical GM<->GM problem - solved

Damien, you are the master.

I had assumed that being on the DMZ made all those problems go away. All I had to do for my router (D-Link DI-704P) was to enable IP Translation, and disable Tunnelling as you suggested. I am using dyndns, so I'll read those parts of the FAQ in more detail now. Can I just enter a dyndns.org hostname for the public IP of the router?

Gnomemeeting is a killer application for me that keeps me (and Eva) off of windows. Great work. Any way I can flip you some cash? You mentioned that you needed a new keyboard or somthing. Do you have a PayPal account?

Thanks again,
-jsd

Putting the computer in a DMZ certainly eliminates firewall issues, but
NOT NAT problems if your router doesn't support natively H.323 .
There are 2 solutions to this problem:
- either your router has a NAT stack that supports H.323, and then it
should work (you might have to disable H.245 Tunnelling and Fast Start)

- or your router doesn't support H.323, and you have to *forward* the
ports described in the FAQ to your 192.168 IP and enable IP translation.

If you are in case 2 and didn't enable IP Translation and forward ports,
then it is normal you have problems.
